John Denver is a popular singer and songwriter who has touched many people by his lyrics. A lot of them are based on Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, the singer-songwriter fell in the love of Colorado and later relocated to Aspen. Denver's national anthems to his adopted state has drawn a lot of people to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame declared the following: John Denver was by far one of the most popular artists who represented Colorado. Denver was inducted into the Hall of Fame as its first member in 2011. Denver has become the image of Colorado to many across the globe. In my journeys, you come across someone on the opposite end of the planet, someone from New Zealand and you say 'I'm originally from Colorado and the first thing that comes out of their mouths is Oh John Denver! Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief stint in folk groups which was Denver's first Top 10 solo hit. Danoff wrote the song along with Johnny Cash in mind but the moment Denver was introduced to an earlier version he knew right away the track could become a hit single. He recorded it a couple of days after having performed on stage in Washington D.C. before an crowd that was extremely enthusiastic.
